The Ford Transit – Saving Lives in South Africa

Posted: June 12, 2014

Johannesburg-based emergency medical service provider, Buthelezi EMS, recently chose the Ford Transit as the vehicle of choice for their new emergency ambulance services fleet.

The Ford 2.2 Transit Custom vans have all been perfectly customised to assist with life-saving duties in Gauteng, Free State, Northern Cape, Western Cape and Limpopo.

The International Van of the Year of 2013 will include important modifications such as stretchers, securing brackets, a bench seat, equipment cabinets and medical systems to assist in emergency situations. Some Transit vans will even come equipped with intensive care equipment. Buthelezi EMS has invested in 45 Transit Vans.

The Ford Transit is a suitable vehicle for the job due to its big loading space and payload figures. The Transit also features excellent safety features driver and passenger airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), emergency brakeforce distribution (EBD), and electronic stability program (ESP). Not only is the Transit super convenient, but it will ensure passengers are super safe too!

One of the most fundamental and important features in the van include Ford’s Load Adaptive Control which measures the vehicle’s loaded capacity and works with ESP enhancing the vehicle’s stability. This is an incredibly important feature for an ambulance carrying a patient, crew, life-saving equipment and that travels at high speeds!

Other smart technologies in this life-saving Ford include SYNC, allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel when taking important calls!

Ford is proud to be associated with such life-saving vehicle technology!
