Ford South Africa’s amazing vehicle line up has contributed to Ford achieving its best February sales to date, with a total of 6 710 vehicles sold in February 2016.
With an incredible 15.6% market share for the month, this volume represents a 2.9% increase on the total for January 2016 and a 5.5% climb relative to February last year. This means sales are up 10% compared 2015, even in a declining car sales market.
Neale Hill, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa Director of Marketing, Sales and Service, had this to say about the sales, “we have worked hard to refresh and renew the Ford product range over the past couple of years, and this is clearly paying dividends as evidenced by our triumph as second best-selling brand in South Africa as well as our continued sales growth in what is an extremely competitive and constrained market”.
The ‘Built Ford Tough’ new Ranger has a sterling reputation in the South African market and in the light commercial vehicle segment, and is once again the best-selling vehicle in February 2016. This vehicle is also proudly locally produced at Ford’s Silverton Assembly Plant, which assists in meeting the strong demand of the Ford Ranger. 2 770 Rangers were sold locally in February, 18% up on January 2016.
The Ford EcoSport is also the most popular in the South African compact SUV sector and has retained this status since August 2013. 1 003 EcoSports were sold in February 2016. The EcoSport’s success is attributed to its exceptional versatility and value for money.
The much-awaited Ford Mustang arrived in South Africa in 2015 and is just rolling off dealer floors in this month. Hill states, “interest in the Mustang remains at an all-time high, and it is a fantastic image-builder for Ford.” The Ford Performance brand will receive another exciting new addition later this year when the popular four-wheel drive Focus RS is launched.
